I always hate to say “I told you so”, but as Apple release the 3rd iteration of the new iOS8 to “fix the fixes”, I, along with my colleagues, feel vindicated in recommending haste when it comes to updating to the latest version.
The launch of iOS8 was predictably flawed, as many major system updates from many vendors are, and should only be installed in non production environments, i.e. where it will not impact your day to day running of the systems you really need. This is true of business or personal infrastructure, so even as a personal consumer of Apple products, by updating you take a risk….
- at best loss of individual services (mail, phone text).
- likely multiple service loss i.e. more than one of the above.
- Possibly even data loss.
This may be the one to install but, don’t rush into it until it has been tested those brave enough to risk it.
